Stub
From Damasca
A stub is a short article in need of expansion. You can view a list of stub categories and their respective articles awaiting editing here.
About Stubs
A stub represents an article that does not contain enough information on a subject to be deemed a full article. Generally, a stub will not be so short as to be deemed useless, but sometimes the editor of a different article may create an empty stub to demonstrate the article they are working on has a need for the stub to be completed. Note that even long articles can be stubs, and that short articles are not always considered stubs. A stub can generally be identified if general knowledge could be added to improve the content of the article.
Once an article has been sufficiently added to, it may no longer be a stub, at which point feel free to remove the stub tag. If in doubt, it may be best to leave the tag in place.
Marking an Article as a Stub
To mark an article as a stub use the command stubcategory, where stubcategory represents one of the Stub Categories currently used in the Damasca project. If you truly feel the article does not fit into any of the stub categories, simply mark it with stub. Alternatively you can create a new stub category.
Creating New Stub Categories
If you find a new category is needed, there are a few steps to follow to ensure it will easily usable.
- Mark the article in question with a stub tag as above
- Ensure the new stub category you wish to make does not already exist
- Follow the pattern already used in the names of other stub categories
- It may be beneficial to double check spelling
- Return to the article you have just placed the potential stub in and click the new template link you just made
- Add the following stub text to the template
- Stub Template
-
<div class="boilerplate" id="stub"> This A-related article is a Stub. You can help Damasca by [SERVER expanding it]. </div> - Where A would represent the topic of the stub you wished to create and B would represent stub category itself
- For Example
- In the Development Stub the word 'Development' replaces both A and B, as development-related stubs are a #:part of Category:Development Stubs
- This stub template will create a new stub category (which you named as B) please follow that link and make your new category a subcategory of the parent Category:Stubs by adding to the bottom of that page, where again B represents your sub category and will list all pages which are a part of that stub category.
Good luck! If you need more help, ask VonTemplar or refer to the stub article at Wikipedia, which our own guidelines follow closely.
