Description
Few people will ever intentionally tangle with these monstrous insects. Razor Hornets are as large as a man, and covered from head to tip with long, venomous black-and-yellow barbs. The tail-stinger is highly durable, comparable to an altusil spear, and may withstand fifty hard blows before wearing out, killing the hornet. This creature's legs are clothed in razor-keen horns to dice its prey for the hornets' nest.
Razor Hornets normally attack only when provoked, but scouts may target the weakest prey available with the largest mass, and attempt to 'prepare' it for the nest's next meal. The wasps usually feast on bastua, but if there are better choices nearby, they will be voraciously set upon.
Razor Hornets live in very small hives, with only four or five other hornets (not counting the queen). There have been reports, however, of palace-sized hornets' nests that have claimed countless adventurers after the Tret and trinkets that the hornets pad their walls with.
Habitat
Razor Hornets are tropical creatures and generally cannot survive for long in any other climate. Most hornets' nests are found near the warmer shores of Makarda and Dachtura.
Combat Strategy
They are incredibly fast, making them all the more dangerous to adventurers. Though they are speedy and strong, their frail bodies cannot withstand more than a few solid blows before crumpling beneath a weapon.
